Welcome to NostalgAire's web site. We first opened doors on November 1, 1997 at the Prescott Municipal Airport (Ernest Love Field), providing aircraft maintenance and services to all aircraft. Owned and operated by Scott Gifford, NostalgAire specializes in the older aircraft, firmly believing in the idea of fixing something, and not simply removing and replacing.
NostalgAire has a collection of rare and hard-to-find maintenance and service manuals, dating back as far as World War I. He primarily recovers aircraft with the Poly Fiber process or with Ceconite, depending on a customer's preference. He also is experienced in repairs to wood, steel tubing and aluminum structures.
Scott attended Cochise Community College in Douglas, Arizona, during the early 1980's, and obtained the training necessary for the following certificates and ratings:
Mechanic, Airframe & Powerplant Commercial Pilot, A.S.E.L., A.M.E.L., Instrument Flight Instructor, A.S.E.L., A.M.E.L., Instrument
Past work experience includes having worked for a number of fixed-base operators around the southwest as a pilot, flight instructor and mechanic. He has held the position of Director of Maintenance for two different Air Taxi/Charter companies. Scott also has attended Factory Maintenance schools on Pratt & Whitney PT-6A engines, Cessna Citation bizjets, and Robinson R-22/R-44 helicopters. He has held an FAA Inspection Authorization (I.A.) for performing annual inspections and major repairs/alterations since 1991.
Scott was nominated for Aircraft Mechanic of the Year (Scottsdale Flight Standards District) in 1997 and 1999, and won the coveted award in 1999. He also went on to win the Aviation Maintenance Technician of the Year for the Western Pacific Region for 1999.

Scott Gifford has also co-authored a book for pilots and aircraft owners on what they can legally do to maintain their airplanes without having a mechanic's license. The book, How to Make Your Airplane Last Forever, is published by McGraw-Hill, and is available at such sites as Amazon.com.
